The "Pretty Ones"

This past weekend we went to Fort Custer Recreational Area - it's a state park nearby with 3 different lakes, a river running through it, several mountain biking trails, a campground, etc.

We took the kayaks out on one of the three lakes - Eagle Lake and we were going fishing in one of Mark's favorite spots. We had been out there for quite awhile and were getting NOTHING...a few bites, but nothing else.

Well, when we were dating...so 4 years ago or so when Mark was stationed in Cali and I was still in Michigan, I had sent him a carepack with a bunch of random stuff with little notes attached to everything. In the carepack was some pink, glittery lures and I said that I thought he needed some "Pretty Ones".

So, as we were out on the lake on Saturday, Mark had tried three different lures of his choice and we hadn't gotten anything so I suggested we try the Pretty Ones. After some convincing, Mark gave in to the idea and tied one on. He wanted to see how it would cast so he took my rod and cast in and no kidding - the lure BARELY HIT THE WATER and we caught a largemouth bass!!!! Followed by.....2 MORE!!!!!

One of those great times to say "I was right..." hehe! I am now convinced that those female fish do like their bling and I will forever use those pink glittery lures....and probably Mark too!!

  1. Joey would be proud and I am proud of you for going along with Mark:). I just don't enjoy fishing enough to offer myself as a companion more than maybe once a year. You are a trooper! :). Love that Sailor tags along with you guys:)
