Happy Memorial Day!

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day...we did! We met up with family in the afternoon and our whole street met up in the morning for the Memorial Day parade.

The Memorial Day parade was great - obviously with Mark having served and being a military wife there's a greater appreciation there than what I had in years past. They also did something at church on Sunday to honor the military and I just kept thinking - I am so proud of my husband for serving, for all that he did, for all that he put up with and all that he went through. As I sat there on Sunday as everyone was clapping for the military though, tears came to my eyes because as fun as some of the days were being a military wife, I remember so clearly the not-so-fun days when my husband was gone for months at a time and the days he would come home to tell me he was leaving again....I just don't miss that. That's not to say I'm not glad for the military or glad that we went through it all - we are WAY farther than where we EVER would have been without going through what we went through with the military and I'll be forever greatful for it. However, while the military is great and I'm SO proud of him for it, I'm SOOOOO glad that he's home in my arms forever!!!

Anyway...got onto a dear diary moment there! The pics below are of us at Fort Custer again - in the afternoon we had met up with mom, dad, grandma and her husband to show them on the of the places we kayak and fish.

Grandma and Norm....heheh...we laughed cuz I said that Norm looks like Moses here with his walking stick! :)
