This past weekend, we went to Fort Custer/Eagle Lake to go kayaking and fishing. We took Sailor along too. The weather forecast for this past weekend was just gorgeous around 80 and much warmer than usual for this time of year. Well on Saturday, we knew that at some point it was supposed to start raining...sometime between 1-3pm. We got to the lakes, loaded the kayaks in and the wind was blowing horribly. We started paddling along in terrible choppy water and finally, after a good arm work out, made it to the other side of the lake - the fishing spot. JUST when we got there, it began to sprinkle and within seconds - it poored! I'm going to imagine that most of you have seen "The Notebook". Well you know the part where she goes back to the plantation after he's remodeled it and they go for the canoe ride to see the swans and then it starts POORING down rain??? Picture that - POORING down rain!!! Shortly after the pooring rain came thunder and lightning...as we're paddling with metal paddles and metal fishing rods strapped to our kayaks!! We high-tailed it back to the beach and loaded up the car and were FREEZING. And once again, this kayak trip ended with a cold, shivering pup :) Nevertheless, it was a fun trip and although we ended up freezing, the notebook moment was so fun and a memory we won't forget!!!
